KP: What were the house parties like?
CS: Oh, they were good. Just a bunch would gather, a bunch of boys and girls and get into a house and dance to about twelve or one o'clock at night and just – They'd have – At them times, there was usually an organ, practically everyone would have an organ. There was no pianos much then, or guitars. Somebody would, always somebody in the house could play an organ. Get a fiddle and an organ together, it was really nice music. I'd rather an organ, myself. I'd rather an organ with a violin anytime, than a piano. You get a nice drone from the organ, you know, a steady sound on it. They're easier to play with violin. See the piano's just dancing the keys but [on the organ] they'd just drone if you'd know the chord – practically the same as – Pretty much like on the guitar. The piano is practically playin the tune right out, but with an organ you wouldn't do that. You'd just – When you come back on the back strings of the fiddle you'd [go] back on the back keys on an organ. It makes a nice sound.
