LH: They [Messer and the band] stopped somewhere in the Rocky Mountains. There was a bear up in the road ahead, of their station wagon, And Duke [Neilson] told the driver, whoever was drivin' at the time, "Stop, I want to feed the bear!" That's what Duke told me, you know. So anyway, Duke got out of the car and took a couple of cookies and was walkin' towards the bear. But they locked the car, and the bear came after him. And the bear was chasin' him around the car, and one of them had a camera and he was sayin, "Take the picture, take the picture!" And he still was runnin' around ahead of the bear, and the bear was still chasin' him. He threw the cookies at him, but he still kept after him. And finally they let him in. But here's Ray [Simmons] tellin' that story. It's so funny.
