Albin lived almost his whole life in Cape Egmont. He worked as a car mecanic and was a well-known musician in the Evangeline Region. He learned to play the fiddle when he was about 12 years old. As a young man, he was often invited to play for house parties and weddings in the community.

Music played an important part in his life. When Albin came home from work, he would take out his fiddle and play a few tunes before dinner or supper. He had a little room in his house where he enjoyed spending time playing his music. He always played sitting down and kept the beat with both feet so vigorously that he wore out the oil-cloth in front of his chair. His wife Béatrice (whom he married in 1928) or one of his children sometimes accompanied him on the pump organ. Local fiddlers occasionally came over to play with Albin, in particular Jaddus Gallant and Alyre Gallant. Young guitar players from the village also enjoyed playing with him.

For 15 years in the 1950s and 1960s, Albin Arsenault played regularly for Saturday night dances at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Wellington. Clarence Gallant accompanied him on the guitar while Alta Gallant, or sometimes his daughter Norma, played the piano. In the late 1950s, Albin also played with a group called the Prince County Playboys who had a 15-minute program on Saturday mornings on CJRW radio in Summerside. Apart from Albin, the band consisted of three guitarists: Clarence Gallant, Clarence Richard, and Leonard Arsenault. Singer Erma Gallant was also a member of the group for several years.

Several audio selections are available here, all recorded in 1974 by folklorist Georges Arsenault, along with a few photographs from the 1960s and 70s..
