Speaker:

LH – Lowell Huestis

LH: That was on at 11:30 in the morning, every morning Monday through Friday. We would go to the country and record at some of these various talent shows, whenever there was a talent show advertised for Tignish, or Borden we'd go there and record

KP: These were like benefits and things like that?

LH: Yeah. We'd like to be there to record the talent, and then play it back on the radio. And At the same time, fiddlers like Howie Getson and Russell Warren would come in to rstudio and record for our programs. We'd have a recording session there about every three or four months. And Russell and Reg his brother on the guitar, would come in, and I'd accompany them on the piano, and one of my boys in the station would record us. And Russell tappin' his feet. We didn't need a drummer, Russell was great at paddlin' with the feet (laughs). We had a number of various fiddlers B Sid Baglole and Lini Bolger. These people would be invited to come in and bring their own pianists or whatever and we would record them. And we had quite a library of old time music. Now it's a shame. You asked me where's all this stuff today and it's a shame but this stuff is passed on, it's history really. I did manage to save a few things. I guess because I was involved with Russell's recording, I saved it for my own collection. And I'm glad now I did because it would have been gone.

KP: How large was your listenership?

LH: Well, it must have been fairly heavy because B We heard stories; whenever 11:30 in the morning came along, people in stores would stop, "We gotta stop, West Prince Party Line's on." And we heard this many times, where people stopped what they were doin', in a garage or somewhere where there were people workin'; they would stop and turn up the radio for West Prince Party Line.
