CW: My Dad and so many other people would go to the woods in the wintertime. And they'd always bring songs home.
KP: From the wood!
CW: Yeah. And then they'd sit around at night. Th people would all come over to hear them do songs.
KP: To hear the new songs?
CW: Yeah. Those would be the new songs, then.
KP: Where were some of the places they went to the woods to work?
CW: A lot them used to go up to Maine, but Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, I imagine were the main places. But there was quite a few of them, an awful lot of them would go up to Maine and make their home there.
KP: They'd just stay.
CW: But as a rule, there wasn't too much doing them times. It was all fishing and maybe freighting by schooner, you know. And then in the fall, they'd have nothing. There'd be nothin to fall back on, so they'd go to the woods for the winter, you know. Come back in the Spring in time to go back fishing again.
