PR: It was originally tagged as the PEI Fiddling Competition. I took over middle 80s.. Keith Milligan was a one time Premier [of the province]. He ran it; it was his pride and joy for quite a long time.
KP: And were you after him, then?
PR: Yes I was after him. There was quie a few people who made it their annual event, was to show up. They had an under 17 category, like they had a children's category and an adult category. And rules seemed to be very loose, like how long do you play, what do you play, that type of thing. I think originally I can remember them saying like three minutes: a waltz, jig, and a reel. Three minutes, you're turn's up. And you might get one turn each to show the different styles. Then we tried to get a couple of younger categories.
KP: What time of year was this held?
PR: It was always the first weekend of August.
KP: And what were the prizes?
PR: Oh my goodness, wasn't a lot. I can remember giving a $20 prize for the senior category. And then it moved up in the $100 category toward the end.
KP: You were saying it has just disbanded?
PR: Yeah, they didn't have it this year.
