JO Dave Beck, he was about the best when I was younger: around our place, anyway.

KP Did you try to play like him?

JO Yeah, in a way. He was good.

KP Did you ever ask him to show you anything?

JO No, no. The only time we ever, really - Is one night we went up there, a bunch of us, and we got him up in the middle of the night (laughs). We got him out in the car playing, you know, and so somebody said for me to play, and he said, "You got just as good a fiddler here with you as I am." Oh, I thought that was something. I couldn't play near as good as he could, but that's what he said. And he got out of the car and left (laughter). But I was glad. He just wanted to get out of the car, I guess (laughs). But he was good. He played for a lot of dances around.
