KP Did you learn tunes from your father at all?
AJ No, I don't think so. I don't think I learned anything from him at all. He wouldn't leave me take the fiddle. I'd sneak it (laughter).
KP Why didn't he want you to play?
AJ I don't know. He wouldn't let me touch it. When I see him coming, I put the fiddle away. One day he caught me, I was playing a tune, not too bad, so he give me a growling first about taking the fiddle, "Your father told you not to take that fiddle." After awhile he said, "Try that again," (laughter). I tried the tune, so after that I could take it, with his permission, of course. And that's how I started to play the fiddle.
