The Gordon family (who held the title Marquis of Huntley for several generations) were great patrons of Scottish fiddlers and their music. In the Scottish peerage, a "marquis" (pronounced "MAR-kwiss") holds a rank between an earl and a duke. Composer Peter Milne (1824-1908) was a mentor of fiddling great James "Scott" Skinner.
