The first two parts of this tune are from Scotland; they appear in numerous Scottish collections, such as The Gow Repository, The Athole Collection, The Skye Collection and Kerr's Merry Melodies) . The third and fourth parts were added relatively recently, and probably in Cape Breton. Notation for the version played here by Paul MacDonald is in The Fiddle Music of Prince Edward Island.
